Failure

From The WESTbase Wiki, The Online Digital Marketing Resource.

What is Failure?

Failure can be defined as the opposite of success, or the state or circumstance of failing to achieve something desired or intended. Measuring failure may be relative to a non-objective observer or set of beliefs, thus they change depending on the situation. Especially in situations of direct competition or a zero-sum game, what one individual sees as a failure another sees as a success. Equally, various people may have varied perceptions of the success or failure of a given circumstance; what one person sees as a failure, another may see as a success, a qualified success, or even a neutral situation.

The experience of failure can be managed in a variety of ways. Among these methods are:

  1. Rather than ignoring or evading the reality of the situation, it is best to face it head-on and recognize the failure as having occurred. In doing so, you can move on and gain valuable insight from the ordeal.
  2. Take some time to think about what went wrong and see if you can discover any recurring themes or patterns. As a result, you can learn from the experience and avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future.
  3. Failing is an opportunity to learn and improve, so do so. Think about what went wrong and how you might avoid it happening again.
  4. Find a group of people who will cheer you on and give you sound advise. One's support network may consist of loved ones or a trained therapist.
  5. Do not give up; do not allow this setback to deter you from pursuing your ambitions. Consider it a lesson in how to bounce back and keep going when things get tough.
  6. To deal with stress and keep a good mindset, it's necessary to practice self-care. Do things like exercise, meditation, or hobbies that make you happy and calm down.

You may effectively cope with failure and move on towards your goals by acknowledging and embracing failure, reflecting on it, learning from it, finding support, persevering, and practicing self-care.
